Exec Leaves Dell To Join AMD

AMD

Colette LaForce has made the decision to leave Dell to pursue a senior vice president and chief marketing officer at Advanced Micro Devices (AMD).

LaForce’s held the global vice president and chief marketing officer at Dell.

This is just the latest in stepping stone career moves for LaForce. She has spent more than ten years honing her marketing and communications skills while working for a variety of different technology companies. Among her previous employers were Ireland-based Accenture PLC and Rackable Systems, which is based out of California.

This has already been a busy year for AMD. In March, the company announced plans to acquire California-based SeaMicro Inc., a microserver developer. The cost of the acquisition was $334 million.

Then, in April, AMD reported their first-quarter losses. On revenue of $1.59 billion, the company posted a loss of $590 million. In comparison, the previous three-month period saw a slightly lower loss of $510 million based on earnings of $1.61 billion.

AMD has announced that LaForce will join the company on May 14. Although AMD is based out of California, LaForce will be based in the company’s Austin, Texas facility. This particular facility employs approximately 2,500 personnel. Their main focus is to develop semiconductors.
