Bay Area Paper Announces “Influential Business” Award Candidate

The San Fransisco Business Times has spotlighted Lori Varlas as being one of their “Most Influential Women In Business”. Varlas is the Chief Financial Officer for Central Garden & Pet Company.

Central’s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Bill Brown, released a statement about the award: “Congratulations to Lori for being recognized for her leadership and commitment to excellence. We are proud of her accomplishments and for being recognized for this award.”

Ms. Varlas received her degree in business accounting from Biola University. She started her career at Price Waterhouse. Since then, she has gained experience in finance and operations which spans a total of 28 years. Before becoming Central Garden & Pet Company’s CFO, Varlas held several other senior financial positions in such companies as Peoplesoft and Sun Microsystems.

The annual honor, which has been a tradition for the past ten years, combines a group of outstanding professional women who have made a difference in the companies where they work, as well as their communities and their industries, as a whole.

Central Garden & Pet Company is an industry leader in producing and marketing lawn and garden products, as well as pet supplies.
