Beer Being Made And Enjoyed By More Women

More women are finding that a common fascination of men is also rather interesting to them. The subject? Beer. And not just drinking it, but brewing it, too.

Just a few short ears ago, seeing a women at a beer festival was a rarity. But the shift now has the percentage of men to women at around 60/40, with women making up the 40 percent.

But those aren’t the only areas of the beer world that are slowly shifting over to the female gender. Beer management, once a male-dominated field is seeing more and more women ease over into the position.

There are even support networks being formed for the cause. One such network, called the Pink Boots Society, was created just to support female brewers. One of the organizations who are a member is Barley’s Angles, a consumer tasting group organization. But this is no small group of followers. Barley’s Angles has chapters stretching from Canada and the U.S. to South America and over to Australia.

Craft breweries are also becoming more of the “norm”. These smaller, privately-owned breweries challenge the largest breweries who dominate the industry. Now, craft breweries have exploded in popularity. Just 25 years ago, these breweries only totaled 25 in number due to the fear of taking on the big beer makers. Today, the number of craft breweries has swelled to 2,000.
