A new national public service campaign initiated by Health Net, Inc., was launched today and is geared towards bringing more awareness to the health of pregnant mothers and their infants all the way through infancy.

Called “Text4baby”, the campaign was created in collaboration with the Healthy Babies Coalition and the National Healthy Mothers. The service gives helpful information to expectant mothers and follows them all the way through the first year following delivery.

By signing up for the free mobile health app, text messages are sent to the mother which contain pertinent information based on her due date or, if she has delivered, the age of her baby. A variety of topics are covered, including nutrition, oral and mental health, immunization and sleep patterns.

But the service also acts as a connection to a wide assortment of prenatal and infant services as well as other types of resources.

Since the service began back in 2010, it has already reached more than 240,000 users. The reason for it’s phenomenal popularity is because of the expansive partnership with over 600 different organizations. The types of organizations include academic institutions, tribal agencies, corporations, government agencies, professional associations and non-profit organizations.

Mothers or expectant mothers who wish to sign up for the service can do so simply by texting B-A-B-Y for English, or B-E-B-E in Spanish, to 511411.
