Latina Bi-Cultural Site Launched By Yahoo

Today, Yahoo officially launched a site for women who are both bi-cultural and bilingual. The site, known as “Shine Latina”, merges together women’s American lifestyle with their Latino heritage.

The site is located within Yahoo’s “Shine” site, which boasts approximately 34 million unique visitors every month. “Shine” was launched in 2008 and is formatted with quality content for women only.

Shine Latina’s intention is to focus on a women’s interests in both the United States and their Hispanic background. It covers all kinds of topics from relationships, careers, health and beauty, parenting, lifestyle and current news, among other areas. Besides reading original material on their favorite topics, women can also find videos, as well as recommendations from experts on a related topic of interest.

With approximately 16 percent of the nation’s population being derived from Hispanics, they now make up the fastest growing demographic in the U.S. Currently, there are more than 50.5 million Latinos in this country.

Yahoo is capitalizing on these numbers, with the company already seeing almost 24 million unique Hispanic users on their service every month. In their press conference, a Yahoo spokesperson said that the aim of “Shine” was to bridge a deep emotional bond with bi-cultural Latinos.

The site, which was designed by Latinos, is geared for Latino women of all ages.
